Alyssa Mielke
In May of 2007 Alyssa Mielke enthusiastically began her training at Star West. 
Mielke joined StarWest after having participated in several clinics with Kathryn Fleming-Kuhn and observed Martin Kuhn’s teaching as well as seeing the StarWest group at horse shows.
Mielke began her dressage career in 2000 on her thoroughbred, Rainbow. The pair learned together as they advanced from training to second level. As her family moved frequently, in 2003 Mielke sold Rainbow and leased My New Harley, a Canadian Thoroughbred. Owned by Cari Saloch, a client of her then trainers, the Schneidmans, Harley provided Mielke with a chance to move up to third level. The duo competed successfully for one show season and Mielke earned her USDF Bronze Medal utilizing scores from both Rainbow and Harley.
In 2005 Mielke’s parents bought Amore, a five year old Holsteiner gelding, for Mielke to train. In 2006 the pair competed at first and second level. With hopes of competing at a higher level she sold Amore and continued her search for an upper level schoolmaster to lease.
Beginning in January of 2007, Mielke began schooling Intrepid, a 17 year old Trakehner gelding owned by Barbara Jo Rubin. The pair competed successfully at third level in the spring of 2007. During the show season, Rubin gave Mielke the opportunity to lease Twilight, a seven year old Dutch Warmblood mare by Ferro. Twilight competed in the FEI young horse classes as a five and six year old and was in the top ten in the country.
