Susanne von Dietze
The author of Balance in Movement: The Seat of the Rider is returning to StarWest. Susanne von Dietze, the originator of the Balance in Movement video, is a licensed physical therapist as well as an international rider and instructor of instructors. Her next book will be on back pain and riding. Von Dietze’s specialty is making a transformation for the better in the rider’s seat during a 45-minute lesson.
After moving to Israel in 2006, von Dietze is responsible for instructor training, therapeutic and classical, at Wingate Institute. She held the same position for the Akademie des Pferdes at Warendort, Verden, Mannheim, Redefin, Langenfeld in 2005 for Germany. She has conducted clinics and symposiums in Hungary, Australia, the US, Austria, England, New Zealand, Scandivavia as well as in her native Germany.
In 1990 von Dietze started her riding education with her father, Rittmeister Gottfried v. Dietze, a student of Alois Podhaysky. In 1987, she received her certification as a physical therapist specializing in spine and joint treatment. In 1988 she received her Trainer A certification FN (German Equestrian Federation) while in training with Karl-Heinz Streng.
Von Dietze became a certified Hippotherapist in 1990 and a German ‘r’ judge in 1992. Thus far she has produced eight videos for the FN. She was a bereiter for Thomas Schmidt in 1989 and Helena and Pter Weinberg in 1993. In the International FEI World Dressage Challenge she became international Champion in 2002 (Novice), 2003 (Advanced), 2004 (Advanced) and Reserve Champion in 2004 (Novice). She has competed horses to Prix St. Georges and 1.40m jumping and has trained students to those levels in both disciplines.

Sarah Geike
An active rider and trainer, FEI "C" judge Sarah Geikie believes in an educated approach to dressage for her students and for herself. She has been invited to train at USET with Freispruch (one of five FEI horses she has trained) as well as producing many successful riders. She has coached two silver medal NAYRC teams for Region 8. In 1999 she was awarded the Lindgren Scholarship, and in 2001 she received a scholarship from the Dressage Foundation. Currently, she trains with Kathy Connelly. Sarah draws on her background in the Alexander Technique, T’ai Chi, Feldenkrais Technique as well as classical dance in her teaching style.
Sarah is an Examiner for the Instructor/Trainer Program. She is the first Certified Instructor to come up through the program to become an Examiner. She has been a Certified Instructor and Faculty Chairperson for the program for 10 years. Sarah and her horse, Waterhouse, are in residence at the Connecticut Equestrian Center, Coventry, where she is an instructor.

Michael Poulin
Michael Poulin is a competitor, trainer, instructor, and judge at the highest levels of dressage. This member of the 1992 Bronze Medal winning United States Team at the Barcelona Olympics also has won multiple national and international championships. Michael heads the Poulin School of Dressage at the Dressage Center, Inc. in DeLeon Springs, Florida, where he works with a prominent student roster.
As a member of the Dressage Foundation Board of Directors, he originated the “Advanced Young Rider European Training/Education Program,” which sends four talented young riders to Europe each year for their introduction to the world of International Dressage. Poulin has been a long-time member of the USEF Board of Directors and Dressage Committee. He was instrumental in the founding of the USDF’s Instructor Certification Program and is a Certified Examiner.
Michael Poulin is a founder of the North American Dressage Trainers Association which stages an annual symposium at the Dressage Center to aid understanding among trainers, judges, instructors, riders, owners and organizers. A member of the International Dressage Trainers Club and the Classical Dressage Riders Association, Michael travels nationally and internationally as an FEI “I” rated dressage judge and dressage coach.
